The Life Support: Epilepsy Channel FAQs

 What is “Channels?”

Channels is a new app-based, one-to-many video coaching platform from Marco Polo that allows for asynchronous learning and connecting.

What do I get as a subscriber?

As a subscriber, you’ll get weekly training, individualized feedback, and meaningful connection to others, all through asynchronous video chat that you can engage with according to  your own schedule. In addition to viewing Ashley’s weekly posts, you can also ask 1 minute questions pertaining to the material taught using a simple video/audio/text chat button that can be shared with the group or kept private. Use this feature in whatever way you wish. Unlike social media, Channels is ad-free and the company does not sell user data.

How much does it cost?

This program is FREE to members because UCSF Pediatric Epilepsy Center of Excellence is a sponsor. The UCSF Pediatric Epilepsy Center of Excellence is aware of the impact of an epilepsy diagnosis on their patients’ families and are thrilled to partner with Ashley to provide more ‘whole family’ epilepsy care in between patient visits and hospital stays.

When does it start?

Ashley will launch her first Channel, Life Support: Epilepsy on Tuesday, June 1st, 2021. It aims to be an ongoing monthly group with new material that builds on itself over time. Every post will include new material from The Life Support Project: Epilepsy by The LAB Method.

How often will there be new content?

Ashley will post two times per week. Each Channel post is like a mini live coaching experience drawing from The Life Support for Families Living with Epilepsy deck of cards, as well as Ashley’s experience as a mother of three (15 years), partner (18 years) and guide/support to families living with epilepsy (10 years). Ashley will deliver new content each week and the content will be relevant to the time of year we are living (pandemic, summer, camps, swimming, heat, fall school planning)

Can members comment?

Yes! In fact, it’s encouraged! Introduce yourself to Ashley and the group and feel invited to leave a 1 min video/audio response or question directly within the Channels app, anytime you wish. Being a silent participant is OK too. We want this experience to feel easy, safe and supportive!

What if I signed up but I am unable to find the time to watch the videos?

That’s ok. This may not be the time for you to connect to this service. You are welcome to drop out at any time or if we notice that you are not watching videos for consecutive weeks, we will unsubscribe you.  If you change your mind and would like to re-subscribe, email Ashley.

Disclosure:

This program is designed to support parents/caregivers adjusting to and living with a child with an epilepsy diagnosis. While the experience may feel therapeutic at times, I will be leading the group from the position of teacher and coach. If you are experiencing a psychological or medical emergency, contact your neurologist, pediatrician, and/or your local crisis hotline.
