“My husband and I have been married for 21 years and have 3 children; twin girls (16 years of age) and a boy (18 years of age). One of our twins lives with Dravet Syndrome.”

Ashley Wood, LCSW

Ashley has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Northern California since 2002. Her work is rooted in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, an experiential approach that fosters the creation of a safe and secure therapeutic relationship (between patient and practitioner) where transformational healing can occur. The AEDP modality provides a roadmap for her work — incorporating elements of mindfulness, neuroscience, and attachment theory to effectively process trauma and correct emotional and relational dysregulation.

After more than 20 years in a private psychotherapy practice, Ashley has shifted the focus of her work to supporting families living with an epilepsy diagnosis. For 15 years, Ashley has navigated the painful and often overwhelming journey of raising a child with epilepsy. And in that time, she has developed an invaluable set of tools and resources to support parents and caregivers of children with epilepsy. Ashley now partners with UCSF’s Pediatric Center of Excellence to provide guidance to families adjusting to an epilepsy diagnosis. In collaboration with Polly Ely, MFT & founder of The LAB Method™, and Dr. Joseph Sullivan, Director of UCSF’s Pediatric Epilepsy Center, Ashley developed Life Support, a resource for families living with an epilepsy diagnosis.

Ashley holds a Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Vermont. Her career has spanned various settings including corporate environments, non-profit organizations, community mental health centers, and both inpatient and outpatient hospitals working with adults and adolescents.
